Journal Prompts
Here are some journal prompts to help you connect to your inner compass
Oh, How I've Grown...
What would I tell my 10 year old self?
(What advice do you have for your younger self, make sure you acknowledge the feelings and emotions your younger self expereinced. What were the fears and insecurities you had as a child? Show your younger self how you've grown and make sure he/she knows he/she doesn't have to stay in any difficult situations).
I Am in Flow When...
The last time I was having so much fun I lost track of time, I was...
(Describe in detail what you were doing here, who you were with, what emotions you experienced and why it was so much fun).
Dream Big...
If I could dream anything in the world, I would dream...
(Describe your biggest dreams, if you could dream without restrictions or boundaries. This is not what you think you can achieve or even what you think is achievable. This is a no-holds-bar dream session, without limitation).
Get Lit...
The last time I felt my soul light up with excitement was...
(Describe a time when you felt your heart leap out of your chest or you were lit up with joy from within).
Rose/Thorn Day...
My High Today was... My Low Today Was...
(Describe your high moment of the day, as well as your low moment. Why did you consider them high and low moments? Is there anything that can be done about your low moment?)
Hold up, is this from me?
My biggest desires are...
(Make a list of your biggest desires. Now get really quiet, go within and imagine your internal light turning on. Go back through your list and look at each item through your internal light. Now ask yourself, is this something I actually want? Or is this something that someone external wants for me? Will this bring me joy because it's my desire, or will it bring me joy because it will make someone else happy or proud?)
Prompts for Littles
I Am Grateful!
Think about someone or something that you love, or even an awesome thing that has happened to you!
(Using a pen, markers, or crayons, write about or draw this person you love, item you love, or thing that happened to you that you loved! Take 3 slow mindful breaths while looking at your writing/drawing and feel how thankful it makes you. Hang it beside your bed so you can see it every day when you wake up to remind you of a positive thing in your life).
I am Mindful of my Mood!
Each morning sit straight up but with your body relaxed. Take three slow mindful breaths. Notice what mood you are in, the mood we are in can affect the way we act! See if you can feel something heavy in our body, or butterflies in our stomachs or like we are floating!
(Choose a marker or crayon and draw your mood. Use different colors for different moods or multiple colors to show one mood. Maybe you draw yourself, maybe it is just scribbles and doodles! Try this every morning and look back at previous drawings to see how your moods change!)
I am Free from Worry!
Write down or draw a picture of something that is making you feel worried. Take the paper and put it in a safe place like a drawer or under your bed so that you can find it again later.
(The worry will stay safe on the paper and out of your head while you play, eat, or sleep! If you decide you don't need to save that worry you can throw the paper away!)
